Fashion Week is here y’all! Even though we’ve barely said goodbye to summer, these fall runway shows are bringing us the about-to-be best of Spring ‘14. While most of us aren’t lucky enough to be front and center at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, technology allows us to watch live streaming and rebroadcasts (http://newyork.mbfashionweek.com/live). An essential tip when watching the runway: these shows aren’t necessarily going to show off apparel that fits your individual style or even pieces that can be worked into your wardrobe. Instead of only viewing collections as individual garments, find consistent patterns designers are trying to show off. For example, the Nicholas K show showcased pieces, I wouldn’t especially gravitate towards. However, the collection clearly established some trends to look out for this spring – neutral monochromatic looks for one and fuller silhouettes being another.
You can also bet less expensive brands and labels are also watching these shows and the trends we’re seeing today will be available when winter slowly begins to turn into spring in more wallet-friendly options.
Hope you enjoy the runway as much as I plan on doing these next few days!
