Who else LOVED Christina Aguilera’s hair earlier this week on NBC’s The Voice? Celeb stylist David Babaii used the theme Smoke N’ Mirrors as inspiration for the look and her voluminous curls were the perfect compliment to the smoky eyes given to her by makeup artist Scott Barnes.
To get the look, David used Big Sexy Hair products to help allow for movement and hold during her performance, while still looking fab while she sat in the judge’s chair.
Starting with Big Sexy Hair Big Altitude Bodifying Blow Dry Mousse to help achieve the necessary volume and hold, he then rough-dried her hair with heat using his hands to lift and create the groundwork for texture. From there, David carefully sectioned the hair into four sections – top, crown, sides and nape, careful not to disturb the texture he achieved during drying. Beginning at the nape he took very small sections and curled each strand with small barreled curling irons. The stylist extraordinaire alternated the curl sizes, using ¼” and ½” sized irons, and also alternated the direction of each curl as well, holding each for about 10 seconds.
To finish the look, David used Big Sexy Hair Big Boost for added volume, applying it underneath sections of her hair, lifting each section as he worked the product in. With leftover product in his hands, he gently defined each curl, and placed them exactly where he wanted them to be. After creating a zig-zag side-part, he sprayed her hair with Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play. The flexible hold hairspray gives added volume and resists humidity, which Xtina needs when under the hot lights.
