What is it about makeup palettes that I gravitate toward? The colors? The idea that I can create an entire look with shades that have already been coordinated? Or, is it just me being girly? Regardless, I do love a good palette and one that comes with instructions on how to create a perfect look is even better. Enter Studio Gear’s Holiday Smokey Eye Palette. Eek! The shimmery shades are just that – shimmery. Not so glittery that after application I felt like a disco ball illuminating the night sky. More like perfectly glam, with coverage that’s buildable making this a go-to palette for day or evening. And even though I’ve been doing my eye makeup for forever, when makeup comes with instructions, my curiosity is always peeked, and these instructions were meticulous and easy to understand.
Another reason I loved this palette? The colors were perfect together, which is expected when a palette is purchased. However, I never would have paired them together had I been shopping for four individual shadows. The platinum and coal shades clearly have silvery tones, while the Frost and Glimmer have rich gold hues. I mix my metals with jewelry ALL the time, but never with my makeup…until now.
I also greatly appreciate the fact that the color stayed on either the brush or my eye, and particles did not annoyingly fall to the skin below – a characteristic any woman is certain to love. The blush is also a perfect hue, Snowy Glow, and has looked good on my pail winter skin as well as my spray-tanned more olive skin tone. The Holiday Smokey Eye Palette is currently on sale for $25.
