My Favorite Oscar Gowns and Advice for e!

The Oscars are over and along with their conclusion, so concludes the end of awards season. The end of the red carpet. The end of swooning over gorgeous gowns and also wondering why some celebs chose what they did. While I’m of course going to share my favorites, I also have a little complaint for my friends at E!.

Is anyone else exhausted after watching E’s Live From the Red Carpet this season? While I don’t expect Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osborne and team to pretend to be boring newscasters or ritualistic reporters, they seemingly have become more and more obsessed with fitting in with high-school girls versus educated women. Don’t get me wrong, they can (and should) have a little more fun than typical shows and hosts, but shouldn’t that be by wowing us with their actual personality? Not by speaking only in hashtag but by constructing well thought out and complete sentences. I meeaaan, it’s a show, not Twitter. They can actually speak thoughts of more than 140 characters. Or, maybe they can’t? Either way, I wish they would give their viewers a wee bit more credit. We’re big girls. Please speak to us as such.

Now, because the only reason I’m watching the red carpet is for the fashion, my 2014 Oscar favorites are below. Something they all have in common? They’re different – every other dress last night was some form of nude and some were borderline dowdy. The below gowns wowed me for their originality, when most of the other dresses seemed somewhat like replicas of one another.

Jennifer Lawrence in a red Dior

I loved the red hue of this Dior Haute Couture gown sported by Jennifer Lawrence. Flawless from head to toe!

Amy Adams in Gucci Premiere

There is something so elegant about a navy blue gown. Amy Adams amazed in this Gucci number.

Emma Watson in Vera Wang
I adored the edginess of these Vera Wang separates. Emma Watson was far from basic in this metallic and black ensemble.
Chrissy Teigen in Monique Lhuillier
This Monique Lhuillier was refreshing and it’s painterly pattern had me thinking spring. Chrissy Teigen looked amazing!

Until next season….
