What Insanely Awesome Thing you Need to Do This Fall to Make you Love the Season

If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you may have gotten the impression I’m not fall’s favorite fan. It’s true. I’m that ONE girl out of, it seems like everyone, that doesn’t really get into the season. Don’t get me wrong, I see the perks: those brightly colored leaves are GORGEOUS. For like a week. And then they fall off and we’re left with chill-you-to-the-bone cold temps for the rest of the season. Until we get to winter, and we’re left with insanlier colder temps.

The One Thing I’ve Done This Fall to Make Me Enjoy the Season

BUT, this fall, I’ve decided to check myself and try to make the most of it. I mean, why not, right? And there’s one MAJOR thing I’ve done that’s helped, and as the headline insinuates, it really is awesome: I’ve changed my attitude and made myself see things differently. I mentioned the leaves earlier. Normally I would see them, think how pretty they were, and immediately think about how bad things will look without them. This year, I’ve just stopped at, “OMG, it’s SO pretty!” That’s it. And with that little adjustment, I’ve found all sorts of fall things to do near me that I didn’t even know existed. For instance:

With the “that’s it,” approach, I’ve discovered more about the season that I love than hate. For example, find yourself a nearby park that deserves exploring. Can you believe it takes me less than 5 minutes to get to the pretty place you see in these pictures, and yet, I’d NEVER been there! What has been wrong with me?!? And knowing that it’s so close will never have me asking what to today, since the trails aren’t just perfect for picture taking, but running as well.

Find yourself a sweater than needs wearing. As much as I’ve snubbed fall in the past, I’ve never been able to snub sweaters:) I’ve always thought they’re everything that’s been right with the season. This autumn, though I found the perfect pink waffle sweater (coming soon to a blog post near you) (p.s., I mean here. This blog. Stay tuned). It’s not a fall pink, it’s definitely a spring/summer pink and I think that’s why I love it. And that’s the point….I LOVE it! Don’t buy a new sweater this season if it doesn’t make you smile when you wear it.

Find a little bit of joy doing yard work. Ok, ok…this is a tough one. As I was raking up piles of leaves recently, I wouldn’t say I was enjoying myself. Closer to loathing. HOWEVER, new attitude and all, I decided to start thinking about the positives: 1) My yard looked nice. I did that! I made my yard look nice:) 2) Exercise. Using muscles I don’t normally use and moving in general isn’t just good for me, it’s a blessing that not everyone has.

I know this all seems SO minor, but I’m a firm believer that we shouldn’t go around disliking things - seasons, people, events, whatever. Allowing ourselves to be miserable only keeps us in misery, am I right??? So even if you don’t have a beef with fall, I challenge you to think about something you really don’t like in your life right this second, and make a point to change it. Make that your fall bucket list (along with park exploring, cute sweater wearing and exercise)!

How to Wear your Best Jean Jacket Like Your Favorite Celebrity

Now, what would a blog post be if I didn’t sprinkle in some fashion? Boring, that’s what! So here we go talking about another one of my favorite fall things - denim jackets. I’ve been noticing on Pinterest, (BTW, you can follow me here, FYI), so many pins of basically this outfit: oversized jean jacket, leggings, tee or turtleneck and cute sneakers. So if you’re wondering what to wear with a denim jacket, that will do:)

Of course, you can also wear denim jackets with skirts or over dresses, or with any of your favorite pants. I have to say though, I do love this season’s jean jacket silhouette: a little slouchier and distressed. Such fun vibes!

I picked up this gem at Gordman’s for under $25 and below I’m linking to other budget-friendly jean jackets. I love getting a good deal on clothing essentials I’ll wear for years. Such a good feeling, am I right?
