OMG guys, who else is excited for Labor Day? A day off? Yes please! I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I believe it will involve sleeping and not working:)
Alright so if this summer has taught you anything about me, it's that I really love skirts and dresses. Like, a lot. Like if I was forced to choose between jeans or skirts/dresses, it wouldn't be a hard decision.
Speaking of summer, let's get to the elephant in the room: summer is ending. And soon. And the end of summer always makes me just a little sad. Not cry-myself-to-sleep sad, just like, nooooo, why-can't-summer-go-on-forever sad. And while everyone else is talking fall and how much they love fall and sweater-weather and boot season and PSL's from Starbucks and yayyy fallll, I'm the one that shoots them a dirty look as soon as those words are uttered.
It's not that I don't like the concept of fall. The "concept" is great: sunshine, cooler but not too cool temps and pumpkin everything. The problem is, at least in Northwest Indiana, that the concept isn't the reality. Sure, we might get a few really nice days. But I think those are meant to taunt us really. Because we also get a lot of really cold, rainy, almost icy days as well. And then...well....winter. One storm will knock down all of those colorful leaves and the only thing we're left with is the reminder that winter is coming. And, I'm just not a fan of winter.
That said, yes, I do like cozy sweaters and boots, ok? And I'm pretty fond of pumpkin everything, but oddly, I don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes. So, excuse the lack of excitement in regards to fall, although I'll try my best when I find cute sweaters and things:)
Alright, I'm officially ending my rant about fall and bringing this post full circle to chat about my tank style tulle skirt dress I found at online retailer Sassy Posh...I think late at night when I was trolling Pinterest. The good news, it comes in so many colors. The bad news, it took awhile to receive (so don't get it if you need it ASAP). My only little complaint, it kinda rides up a little when I move....like the top portion shrinks up which means it doesn't sit at my actual waist. That said, I've also worn it belted, and it was fine. I also purchased this destructed baseball cap (which arrived pretty quickly).
Mixing sporty pieces with your skirts and dresses really doesn't have to be a difficult thing. I love toning down the dressiness of my skirts or dresses with a denim jacket. It instantly "casual-fies" (and yes, I know that's not a word). Once they have that less dressy feel, your favorite sneakers and a baseball cap easily complete the look.
That's it for now, happy Friday everyone, hope you enjoy the long weekend!
